Congratulations, sis, we made it to the end of 2023! There were a lot of ups and downs, but baby we did it! Before we break out the champagne glasses in celebration, there’s a little something that we need to get into first. We have to do some goal planning. Why you may ask? Goal planning is the best way to keep yourself in check throughout the year and it makes it easier to assess how effective you’re being in your sales and services. There are a few important things that you need to keep in mind before you start doing any 2023 goal planning in your business, and you already know that your girl is going to drop each one below.
2023 Goal Planning At A Glance
Tip #1: Be realistic with your goals.
Okay, it’s time to have a heart-to-heart sis. If you’re not consistently making at least $1,000 a month in your business, why would your goal be to make six figures in your business in 2023? Now, I’m not trying to be a Debbie Downer, but I do have to be real with you. You have to walk before you can run. Therefore, make sure your goals are realistic and in line with what you can truly accomplish. It’s okay to have three sets of goals (base, ideal, and stretch) when doing your 2023 goal planning, but don’t try to play yourself and shoot for six figures when you aren’t making consecutive five-figure months.
2023 Goal Planning Tip #2: Create actionable steps to complete your goals.
The best way to make sure you accomplish your goals is to create small tasks in between that lead up to the big goal. In other words, incorporate actionable steps in your 2023 goal planning process. If you’re just starting out as a business owner, this can be something like 1) Get a business plan, 2) Register business, 3) Get an EIN, and 4) Open a business bank account. If the ultimate goal was to start a business, then following those actionable steps will help you to do that. You want to take the exact same approach when doing your goal planning for your business, regardless of what stage you are in during your entrepreneurial process.
2023 Goal Planning Tip #3: Have a combination of small and big goals.
The last thing I’m going to give you is to have a combination of goals during your 2023 goal-planning process. Think of it like this. Yes, you want to make six figures in your business, but what does that look like? That means averaging $8,333.33 per month. So, while you’re big goal is to make $100,000, your smaller goal is to make $8,333.33 every month. Now, let’s say your goal has nothing to do with money, then how can you do goal planning in your business? Easy! Let’s say your goal is to have 100 new clients this year. Guess what? That means you need to have a least 3 clients per week to make that goal, meaning that your smaller weekly goal is three per week.
