Dream with me for a minute. Let’s say that you have your own company and make a six-figure annual income. You live the exact lifestyle that you have always dreamed of and it’s all from your hard work finally paying off. Does this get you excited? Is your blood pumping? Good, because that’s exactly why you became an entrepreneur in the first place. Now, in addition to the hustling and success, there is one word that seems to always be left out of the equation…stress (or more specifically business stress).
Business stress is really relatable because being an entrepreneur means putting the stress of an entire company on your shoulders rather than just one job in a company. When it comes to running a company there is a lot to do, to handle, and to worry about. Many entrepreneurs simply think that this business stress is normal, but you can lead yourself to burnout. Burnout can leave you physically and mentally ill. If you want to know more about why you should STOP doing everything in your business, check out my video as I share the bad outcomes here.
If you are an entrepreneur, new, or vetted, I think it’s time that you learn about the three magic words to alleviate business stress.
1. Automate
When it comes to your time, you need to know that it is precious. Technology is so advanced these days that it can automate a good percentage of your administrative tasks. This will save you time and hassle. You can automate your payments, social media posts, email blasts, invoice reminders, and even some parts of your customer support. Think about how many times a week that you get asked the same question via your contact form on your website.
How much time would it save you to add in a chatbot that can answer FAQ for your customers? What other things could you be doing with all the time that you have saved? Another example would be your social media posts! Do you really want to have to be on your device 24/7 in order to keep your engagement up and your response time in the green? By not automating what can be automated, you are wasting time and sanity!
2. Outsource
Although I commend those who can do absolutely everything when it comes to business…I can tell you right now that I am not one of them and there is no shame in that. To be perfectly honest, there aren’t enough hours in the day for me to handle everything that goes along with my companies, family, and social life. You can outsource all kinds of things to people both virtually and in person. Some examples of things that you can outsource are social media posting, copyediting, project management and so much more. Don’t be afraid to delegate some of your tasks to those who are skilled in those fields. 3. Eliminate
Just because you have been doing something forever doesn’t mean that you should continue. As I mentioned before, technology is an amazing thing. You should set aside some time every month to research new products, programs, and technology that can be used in your day-to-day processes. First, you should also take a look at all the moving parts of your business. Then, decide if all of them are working properly and helping you to succeed. For example, let’s say you have been investing in billboards as part of your advertising campaign. However, you’re noticing that they really aren’t working anymore. It would be really silly to keep paying for them just because you have been. By eliminating these unnecessary things, you free up your resources for bigger and better things like maybe a radio campaign!
